London is the world’s most open city, according to a study produced for the British Council in collaboration with the European Commission.
The survey of 26 cities worldwide assessed each city’s ability to attract and benefit from an international population, looking at factors such as foreign investment in the capital, quality of education, number of international students, crime rates and housing.
London beat New York into second place, scoring highly for its positive attitude to foreigners and immigration policies. Other British cities in the top 10 were Edinburgh in eighth place and Manchester in 10th.
