London is to have a one-kilometre long floating walkway along the Thames by the summer of 2012, to coincide with the London Olympic Games. The £60 million 12-metre wide floating pathway, which won the mayor’s award for Planning Excellence at the 2010 London Planning Awards, will be located on the north bank of the river, between Blackfriars Bridge and Customs House. The project will be privately funded by the Singapore based Venus Group, and London’s mayor will share 30 per cent of net revenues for public benefit.
