Gabriel Orozco

19 January - 25 April 2011. The Tate Modern presents an exhibition by Gabriel Orozco who is known for collecting random items and recreating them as works of art, making the viewer look twice at an image they thought they knew quite well.

His sculptures include a car sliced into three pieces, a scroll filled with numbers from a telephone directory and his most talked-about piece - a human skull which he decorated with a black and white geometric pattern.

On show also is an eclectic collection of Orozco's photographs of everyday objects in which the artist saw beauty.

Born in Jalapa, Mexico in 1962, Orozco travels constantly and has neither a fixed address nor a permanent studio. This exhibition in the Tate follows his recent successful show at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
